Siddaganga Institute of Technology (SIT), established in 1963, stands as a premier institution dedicated to excellence in technical education. As one of the 125 institutions under the esteemed Siddaganga Trust, the institute has built a strong legacy of academic distinction and research innovation. With 14 undergraduate and 9 postgraduate programs, SIT nurtures a thriving academic community of over 4,000 students. The institute is also home to 15 research centers recognized by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi, where 187 research scholars are actively pursuing Ph.D. programs.
The University Grants Commission, Government of Karnataka, and Visvesvaraya Technological University have granted SIT autonomous status since the academic year 2007-08, further strengthening its academic flexibility and curriculum innovation. The faculty at SIT comprises over 310 experienced and highly qualified members, with 143 holding Ph.D. degrees from prestigious institutions such as IISc Bangalore, IIT Madras, IIT Bombay, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Guwahati, and others. Recognized for institutional excellence, SIT has been consistently ranked among the top 100 engineering institutes in the country for five consecutive years (2016-2020) under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. Most undergraduate programs at SIT have received accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), and the institute itself is accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC. In the AICTE-CII survey of Industry Linked Technical Institutes, SIT has been placed in the prestigious Gold Category multiple times.
